I offer mentoring to both professional artists and masters and doctoral students.
This can take many forms, I’ve worked with some people through dialogue, with others it has taken the form of practical sessions, or indeed a combination of both. With some artists we’ve worked in a specific site where they are engaged in a project, using the site as a locus to prompt multi-tangential conversations around a set of creative concerns.
Generally, during an initial conversation we agree what I can offer, and how you imagine the mentoring experience. It can depend a great deal on where you are at, and what best supports the mentoring you feel you and your practice needs.
More often than not, the number of sessions and duration is formed by the resources you have, and we try to find a price and time that works for both of us. I offer a sliding scale so your very welcome to contact me to discuss how this might work for you.
Here is a very generous testimony from artist Ida Sophia
Being mentored by Kira was a pivotal moment in my performance art education. I sought Kira for her deeply meaningful works, strong presence and the way she has uniquely worked with her body, site and material. Working together, I learned processes that have endured in my practice as I conceive and develop new work. Kira challenged me in positive ways and raised my confidence, she helped me understand how I can truly interact with and collaborate with my surroundings and helped me to understand my own capacity from a completely new perspective. Beyond that, Kira is a warm and generous mentor, highly knowledgeable and kind. I highly recommend Kira to all who are seeking a new and deeply moving experience in their practice through 1:1 mentoring with her.
